Tie a rope in the hole and clamp the material between the jaws of the clamp. Slide the locking ring so that it pinches. Now it sits! When you want to open, you squeeze down the lock washer in the middle and the lock ring is released.
Perfect att keep in your backpack, car, motorhome or caravan as a spare if a tent/awning attachment breaks.
