This straightener is flexible and quickly welds the bags together. It heats up in 10 seconds. 

The advantage of a straightener over an iron is that it heats the bag from both sides so the weld is strong and even. There is also less risk of burning yourself on this than on an iron. Please watch this video to see how easy it is. 

The plates get about 190 degrees hot, which is just enough to melt the inner layer of Polyethylene, which melts at about 120 degrees, but not too hot so it melts the outer layer of PET, which melts at 260 degrees. The cord is 1.9 m
